ABOUT US
2016 - Founded by Casey Muze Williams in Nacogdoches Texas, was based off the idea that "Creativity Destroys Barriers." Our first event was a simple bonfire of open invitation to the public of Nacogdoches. Six months later, we established sessions.
The first session was held in the downtown district, the heart of the city, on Main St. After gaining awareness and interest, we saw opportunity in collaboration with local businesses and establishments, and expanded our services south, to Lufkin Texas, adding to the ever-growing popularity in sessions.
2017 - Expanding service territory took the brand even further south, to Livingston Texas, where we made a connection with a local coffee shop named Java Quest Coffee & Tea.
Next, we developed a creative writing workshop called "Go to Your Room and Write This Down", and also added more interactive art presentation/activities. With these new services we widened our territory to Longview, Gladewater, and Center Texas.
2018 - Starr Avenue Co had the opportunity to travel to Haiti, providing sessions while serving on mission alongside another non profit, One Foot Raised. This gave Williams the information he needed to pursue non profit status for the Starr Avenue Co brand.
Upon return from Haiti his sights were set on the goal of turning Starr Avenue Co into a non profit organization. Connecting with other organizations that already had this statues was important, so we started working in Lufkin with the known agency of Impact Lufkin.
2019 – Finally, a trip to Shreveport Louisiana brought Starr Avenue Co non-profit status, and we collaborated with the School of Social Work department at Stephen F. Austin, State University.
The first four years of building and adding value at last brought Starr Avenue Co to... 2020
2020 – What a blessing to be here!
